Introduction
Surgiclean® Absorbable Collagen Hemostatic Sponge is a sterile, biodegradable sponge derived from bovine Achilles tendon and processed through freeze-drying. Typically light yellow to white in color, it is mainly composed of bovine collagen and exhibits excellent absorbency-capable of holding over 30 times its own weight in water or blood.
Due to Absorbable Collagen Hemostatic Sponge porous sponge structure, this product is conducive to absorbing the exudate of damaged tissue at the application site, keeping the wound clean and preventing external pollution. It also has a unique effect in promoting tissue regeneration and functional recovery, and is very beneficial for the healing and recovery of trauma after local hemostasis; it can be used for hemostasis in all surgical departments; it can be effectively degraded in the body and reabsorbed by the body.
About Collagen
Collagen is the protein with the highest content and the widest distribution in animals. It is the main structural protein of the body and the main component of supporting tissue and connective tissue. Its unique triple helix structure gives collagen many useful characteristics, such as high tensile strength, controllable biodegradation, hemostatic properties, low antigenicity, low inflammatory and low cytotoxicity, and the ability to promote cell growth and attachment. Scope of Application
Designed as an adjunctive hemostatic material when conventional methods (e.g., pressure, ligation, electrocautery) are insufficient, this sponge is indicated for capillary, venous, and non-pulsatile arteriolar bleeding. It is suitable for use in abdominal surgery and a wide range of procedures, including ENT, wound, dental, orthopedic, gynecological, and colorectal surgeries
Mechanism
Hemostatic effect: Collagen sponge can absorb liquid dozens of times its own weight, forming blood clots on its surface and blocking blood vessels; collagen molecules effectively adsorb, aggregate and activate platelets and coagulation factors, initiating endogenous hemostasis.
Repair effect: Collagen is a growth factor for fibroblasts and vascular endothelial cells. It can promote the regeneration of collagen fibers and the formation of capillaries, and accelerate the repair and regeneration of granulation tissue and epithelial cells.
It forms a three-dimensional scaffold on the wound surface through implanted collagen fibers, providing support for cell regeneration and migration, and creating a superior environment for tissue repair, thereby accelerating the healing of the wound surface and shortening the repair time of the damaged part. Inducing the migration of growth factors can also promote the differentiation of epithelial cells and endothelial cells, and accelerate the regeneration and repair of damaged tissues.
Filling effect: This product can be used to fill the residual cavity after various surgeries.
Method for Usage
1. When using this product on the body surface, the wound or incision can be disinfected routinely. Cut the product into appropriate sizes, cover the rough surface over the wound, and fix it with medical gauze, medicinal cotton, or other dressings. When changing dressing or providing care, there's no need to remove the original covering of this product; it can be directly covered on the original wound surface.
2. When using this product internally as a hemostatic material, it can be cut into different sizes as needed. Cover the rough surface over the surgical wound, gently press for 1-2 minutes to adhere to the wound surface. It can be sutured and fixed according to requirements.
Contraindication
1. It is prohibited to use this product intravascularly to prevent thrombosis.
2. Patients with a history of allergy to bovine-derived materials or collagen products are prohibited from using this product.
3. It is not recommended to use this product on skin incisions, as the physical properties of dry collagen may affect the repair and healing of the skin and tissue at the incision edge.
4. Use is restricted for patients with autoimmune diseases.
