Surgiclean® Absorbable Hemostatic Powder is composed of spherical or ellipsoidal microporous microspheres (30.8 µm–97 µm), featuring a three-dimensional reticular microstructure and excellent biocompatibility. Made entirely from potato starch via emulsification and cross-linking, the product contains no animal- or human-derived components and is sterile and pyrogen-free.
Each dispenser is sterilized using ethylene oxide and packaged in a polyethylene spray bottle sealed with a screw cap, housed within a PVC blister and a final carton box.
Surgiclean® have the function of a hydrophilic molecular sieve, can absorb and lock the water several times over weighting themselves instantly to form gels, and form gel mixtures around particles by condensing visible components in the blood outside the gels, such as platelets, red blood cells, albumins, thrombin and fibrinogen, thus promo ting instant clot forming; in addition, the blood at the bleeding sites is concentrated rapidly, thus resulting in concentration of platelets, initiating the coagulation mechanism, and accelerating the natural coagulation; Surgiclean® apply certain pressure on the peripheral vessel to promote the hemostasis after absorbing water and expanding; Surgiclean® form waterproof gels after absorbing water, and the polysaccharide particles can block off the wounds and promote the blood coagulation.
Surgiclean® hemostatic microsphere degradation in the bodies initiates after hemostasis and finishes within 14 days. The Surgiclean® are decomposed into maltose and glucose by amylase and α-glucoside to form water and carbon dioxide finally, which are absorbed by the circulation system and expelled from the bodies.

This powder is intended as an adjunctive hemostatic device in surgeries where capillary, venous, or arteriolar bleeding cannot be effectively controlled by standard measures (e.g. pressure or ligation). It is suitable for a broad spectrum of surgical procedures-including cardiovascular, thoracic, hepatobiliary, orthopedic, general, plastic, cosmetic, ENT, and burn surgeries-but is not indicated for neurological or ophthalmic operations.

The particles form a waterproof gel barrier that seals the wound and accelerates endogenous hemostasis.

Supplied Applicator
Includes models TQ-1, TQ-2, TQ-3, and TQ-4, all CE-marked. TQ-1 (14 cm) and TQ-2 (38 cm) are suitable for both open and endoscopic/laparoscopic use. TQ-3 (25 cm) and TQ-4 (2 m catheter) are optimized for minimally invasive procedures using trocars
Method Of Usage
Open Surgery
Remove excess blood with an aseptic sponge or gauze to expose the bleeding site.
Unscrew the cap and fit the nozzle, then apply powder directly onto the wound, ensuring full coverage.
Press on the treated area with dry gauze for at least 1 minute (or 2–3 minutes for heavier bleeding).
Once bleeding stops, irrigate and suction away excess powder. If bleeding persists, repeat the process.
Endoscopic / Laparoscopic Surgery
Use the longer applicators and maintain visual guidance to prevent nozzle occlusion. Replace the applicator if blockage occurs.

Key Points:
(1) For bleeding and reducing postoperative drainage, clean the postoperative wound fluid, spray the Surgiclean® in small amount and evenly according to the surgery closing levels and sequence.
(2) Surgiclean® can successfully stop bleeding in minutes (normally 1 minute). Specific time is dependent on the amount applied and the site being treated.
