Introduction
Surgiclean Sponge Hemostatic is a biodegradable biomaterial derived from bovine Achilles tendon, processed through freeze-drying into a white or light yellow sponge-like solid, with collagen as its primary component. The inner packaging utilizes a PETG blister pack, sealed within an aluminum foil bag. This product exhibits exceptional water absorption, capable of absorbing up to 30 times its own weight in water. It is sterilized by radiation and intended for single use.
The porous sponge structure of Surgiclean facilitates the absorption of exudate from damaged tissue at the application site, maintaining wound cleanliness and preventing external contamination. Additionally, it effectively promotes tissue regeneration and functional recovery, aiding in the healing process following local hemostasis. Suitable for hemostasis across various surgical departments, the product is efficiently degraded and reabsorbed by the body
Mechanism of Surgiclean Sponge Hemostatic
Hemostatic Effect: The collagen sponge can absorb liquid up to dozens of times its own weight, forming blood clots on its surface to block blood vessels. Collagen molecules effectively adsorb, aggregate, and activate platelets and coagulation factors, thereby initiating endogenous hemostasis.
Repair Effect: Collagen serves as a growth factor for fibroblasts and vascular endothelial cells, promoting the regeneration of collagen fibers and capillaries. This accelerates the repair and regeneration of granulation tissue and epithelial cells.
By forming a three-dimensional scaffold on the wound surface through implanted collagen fibers, it provides structural support for cell regeneration and migration, creating an optimal environment for tissue repair. This process accelerates wound healing and shortens the repair time of the damaged area. Additionally, by inducing the migration of growth factors, it facilitates the differentiation of epithelial and endothelial cells, further promoting tissue regeneration and repair.
Filling Effect: This product can be used to fill residual cavities following various surgical procedures.
Scope of Application
Used for hemostasis of non-pulsatile small arteries, small veins, and capillaries during abdominal surgery when conventional hemostatic methods such as pressure, ligation, electrocoagulation, or other methods are ineffective.
Method for Usage
External Application on Body Surfaces:
Perform routine disinfection of the wound or incision site.
Trim the product to appropriate dimensions and position its textured surface over the wound. Secure it with medical gauze, sterile cotton, or other suitable dressings.
During subsequent dressing changes or wound care, the prior application may remain in place; additional product layers can be applied directly over the existing material.
Internal Use as Hemostatic Material:
Customize the product size as required.
Place the textured surface against the surgical wound and apply gentle pressure for 1–2 minutes to ensure adhesion.
The material may be sutured in place as needed for stabilization.
