Intended Use
Surgiclean® Hemostasis Powder is a microspherical hemostatic powder based on potato starch, made by inverse emulsification and cross-linking technology, with a spatial network microstructure and a particle diameter between 30.8μm and 97μm. The product is sterilized by EO (ethylene oxide) to ensure sterility and pyrogen-free, has good biocompatibility, and is suitable for auxiliary hemostasis in a variety of surgical operations. It can be applied for cardiovascular surgery, thoracic surgery, hepatobiliary surgery, bone surgery, general surgery, burns, plastic surgery, cosmetic surgery, ENT surgery, etc.
Hemostatic Principle
Surgiclean® Hemostasis Powder uses its super hydrophilicity to quickly absorb water from the blood at the wound site, forming a gel-like barrier that concentrates platelets, red blood cells and coagulation proteins to promote the natural coagulation process.
At the same time, the gel exerts moderate pressure on the surrounding blood vessels to further enhance the hemostatic effect.
Surgiclean® Hemostasis Powder can be enzymatically degraded into maltose and glucose in the body, and ultimately metabolized into water and carbon dioxide, which are completely absorbed by the human body, and no need for secondary surgery to remove.

Method Of Usage
Apply a sufficient amount of Surgiclean to the bleeding site, completely covers the wound.
Use a gauze dressing or other equivalent to apply proper pressure to the wound and continue to pressurize for at least one minute.
If the wound continues to bleed or seep, repeat the procedure as described above until hemostasis is achieved.
For large area bleeding sites, continue to pressurize for 2-3mins.

Common Causes of Hemostasis Failure
Improper application of Hemostasis Powder
The hemostasis powder fails to make direct contact with the bleeding site.
Dry gauze is not used to apply pressure, or the compression time is too short.
When dry gauze is removed without being fully moistened, it may dislodge the formed blood clot and lead to re-bleeding.
Insufficient dosage
Effective hemostasis depends on the factors including adequate, timely, and correct application of the powder. Any deviation from the proper usage may compromise the product's effectiveness and increase the risk of intraoperative or postoperative bleeding.
